Sarah,
You came into my life on the 27th of Sivan 5776 (July 3, 2016): I saw on the FB page of the cats of Modena and it 'was love at first sight, זו היתה אהבה ממבט ראשון!
We fell for each other immediately, despite our respective fears, in fact we helped each other to heal.
I had a terrible fear of losing you, encouraged by the - although sensible- rules about the restriction of your freedom that had been dictated to me by the wonderful volunteers that gave you to me. At the same time, I was scared to dictate the rules of life in favour of your settling in that went against the freedom of those people dear to me that occasionally lived with us.
Among the various games that I proposed to you at the beginning, you immediately reacted to the only ball that bounces with great strength: you only have to see it in my hands, or even if you just see me raise my hand in the air as if to throw a ball, you spring into position, ready to chase it, and for a long time you have indulged me or maybe required this game to be played until we are exhausted.
In recent times, my dear pussycat, I have noticed that we are learning to relax with each other, not to fear being abandoned when saying 'no, thanks' even to those we love and respect. Not to be afraid when you go out in the roof with all your cattitude, and then run home when a pigeon gets too close to you.Even if you stay away a lot, it's your life. Not to be afraid to expose your belly when you stretch gently from being caressed.
During the last year and a half you have taken part in perhaps the most difficult period of my life: at just the right moment you were there with your little head-butts, with your whiskers that tickle, with your intense 'open-and-close' looks (which I am told means trust in the language of cats). I don't know how I would have done it without you. You have helped me to rediscover the communication of love with my daughter after a long period in which I thought that i had to be a 'fortress', and this had really closed me off a lot.
You've become the inspirational muse of my dear Ariel in her photography, perhaps teaching her how to interact with cats through her passion for you.
Even when you open the drawers and pull everything out, and Irene must jump to save her tights ....
....I love you,
LiOr
