I made this mask during the summer, perhaps inspired by the drastic lowering of protection measures against the Covid-19 that was taking place in the country, with this idea in mind:
Next December, when, despite the restrictions on travel, many Italians will have the pleasure of gathering and celebrating together, I think we must be very careful not to forget the many sacrifices made in order to save human lives.
Surely we will take many photographs, to capture happy moments with our loved ones, each celebrating the winter Holidays in their own tradition, all rare things in this year 2020. We will squeeze ourselves into a group frame to remember! So, as we get so close to each other, let's not forget to protect each other with glamour!
Maybe, as this particular pattern suggests, we will feel as connected with each other as if in an army!

I bought this fabric at the Cloth House in London a couple years ago, and who would have thought that I would have used it to make a protective mask!
