TALLIT SIMCHA

Jewish prayer shawl that I made by hand from pure Venetian wool, a fabric that owes its shiny silkiness to the particular order of the weft threads.

Simcha Tania, for whom I had the honour to design and create this tallit, is a very young Bat Mitzvah with a sensitive and exuberant nature: together we chose pink and gold colours for the decors, giving a jeweled and joyful touch to the garment.

I hand-painted the traditional stripes in pink and gold, and mixed a pink cotton thread with a metallic gold thread for the hand embroidery of the names on the atarah, which is pure crême coloured shantung silk.

Also of the same silk are the four corners of the tallit and of course the tallit bag specifically crafted for Simcha.

The tzitzit is kosher, made in Israel, of thin type, in pure sheep wool, which I tied according to the Ashkenazi Jewish tradition, with the sequence of 7,8,11 and 13 chulyot. I have applied the tzitzit on three corners. The plan is that Tania will personally tie the fourth one, with the supervision of Rabbi Ariel, when, B'H, we will be able to gather together in simcha (which in Hebrew means joy), in a meaningful ceremony with the dedication of the tallit to Simcha Tania!

As you can see, in one of the photos in the gallery I point out my signature, a letter Lamed (corresponding to the letter L) that I drew and had transferred on stamp. This is the symbol for LiOr Designs that I usually choose - in alternative to the woven label - to sign those of my creations, especially Judaica, for which I prefer a more discreet touch.
